The Benefits of Music
Several research studies in early childhood development have
demonstrated that music brings many more benefits for the children besides
simple joy. Experts have repeatedly stated the benefits music has on a child’s cognitive
development. According to a study from Northwestern University in order for children
to fully receive the cognitive benefits from music they have to actively engage
in it, and not just have it played to them. We at Art Village Nursery recognize
the benefits of music and therefore include music education in our curriculum as
one of four parallel profiles.
Here is a great Ted Talks speech by Anita Collins who shares with us some of the benefits children get from music education.
